REF is the successor to the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<h2>\r\n\t\tOur REF Highlights\r\n\t<\/h2>\r\n<h3>\r\n\t\tOur spotlight results\r\n\t<\/h3>\r\n<h4>\r\n\t\tWorld Leading Research\r\n\t<\/h4>\r\n    <ul>\r\n<li>14.9% of the University&#8217;s entire submission has been classed as world leading<\/li>\r\n<li>30.9% of the &#8216;Impact&#8217; component of the University&#8217;s entire submission has been classed as world leading<\/li>\r\n<li>12.9% of research outputs in the University&#8217;s entire submission have been classed as world leading<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h4>\r\n\t\tInternationally Renowned Research\r\n\t<\/h4>\r\n    <ul>\r\n<li>89.7% of the University&#8217;s entire submission is internationally renowned<\/li>\r\n<li>87.2% of the University&#8217;s research outputs are internationally renowned<\/li>\r\n<li>93.0% of the &#8216;Impact&#8217; component of the University&#8217;s entire submission is internationally renowned<\/li>\r\n<li>94.8% of the &#8216;Research Environment&#8217; component of the University&#8217;s entire submission is internationally renowned<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h2>\r\n\t\tREF Impact\r\n\t<\/h2>\r\n<h3>\r\n\t\tWhat REF asseses\r\n\t<\/h3>\r\n    <p>The REF assesses research excellence by focusing on three elements considered by independent expert review:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>The quality of research outputs (65%)<\/li>\r\n<li>The reach and significance of the impact of research (20%)<\/li>\r\n<li>The quality and strengths of the research environment (15%)<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>Assessment is based on:<\/p>\r\n<ol>\r\n<li>Recognised nationally in terms of originality, significance and rigour<\/li>\r\n<li>Recognised internationally in terms of originality, significance and rigour<\/li>\r\n<li>Internationally excellent in terms of originality, significance and rigour<\/li>\r\n<li>World-leading in terms of originality, significance and rigour<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<h2>\r\n\t\tOur REF 2014 Results\r\n\t<\/h2>\r\n<h3>\r\n\t\tHow we did\r\n\t<\/h3>\r\n    <p>In 2014 we entered five specialist areas:<\/p>\r\n\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--label-0\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-0\">English Langauge and Literature (UOA 29) &#8211;
