Before you start university, it’s important you take a look at all of the funding options available.<\/p>\n\t
This is available to all new, full-time, home undergraduate degree (including Foundation Degree) students starting level 4 (e.g. ‘first year’), in September 2024, whose programme is based at either the Bognor Regis Campus or the Bishop Otter Campus.<\/p>\n
If the income of your household is below \u00a325,000 (as assessed by Student Finance), you will be eligible for our \u00a3300 Financial Support Package. This bursary is paid at mid-point of each academic year, when we know individual students are continuing into semester 2.<\/p>\n
If you are a Care Leaver you may be eligible for our Care Leavers Bursary of \u00a3300 per year irrespective of any other funding or grants you may receive. Contact our Care Leavers Coordinator on clc@chi.ac.uk<\/a> for more information or see our Care Leavers webpage<\/a>.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tFind out more\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n Eligible students are able to get a Tuition Fee Loan from the government which helps to pay the course fee.\u00a0 This is available to students studying an undergraduate degree or Foundation Degree.<\/p>\n You can request a loan which covers the whole of the fee or just part of the fee.\u00a0 You will need to apply for a Tuition Fee Loan each year of your course.<\/p>\n The Tuition Fee Loan is paid directly from the\u00a0Student Loans Company<\/a>\u00a0to the University.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tMaintenance Loan<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t It is also possible to get a maintenance loan which helps with the cost of living (e.g. rent, food, course materials, etc).\u00a0 How much you can get depends on your circumstances (e.g. household income) and whether you choose to live in the parental home.<\/p>\n Students from lower income households receive more financial support.\u00a0 You can get an idea of how much support is available to you using\u00a0the student finance calculator<\/a>.<\/p>\n The maintenance loan is paid to the student in three instalments in the academic year:<\/p>\n Extra funds – which don’t have to be repaid – might be available if you have dependents.<\/p>\n The Adult Dependants’ Grant is for students who have a spouse (or partner if you are over 25) who is financially dependent on them.<\/p>\n The Childcare Grant is funding specifically for childcare expenses incurred whilst studying, and the Parents’ Learning Allowance helps student parents to pay for course expenses such as books, study materials and travel costs.<\/p>\n All the grants are means-tested (based on household income).<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tHow and when to apply<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t We recommend first checking your eligibility for funding\u00a0using the ‘Eligibility’ link<\/a>.<\/p>\n If you have any concerns about your eligibility, contact the Student Finance England helpline on 0300 100 0607.\u00a0 Monday – Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday and\u00a0Sunday 9am to\u00a04pm.<\/p>\n New students are advised to apply by 31\u00a0May in the year that they are starting (e.g. 31\u00a0May 2020\u00a0if you are due to start in September 2020).<\/p>\n However, it is possible to apply after this date but your funding might not be ready for the start of the course.<\/p>\n The quickest and easiest way to\u00a0apply is online<\/a>.<\/p>\n Eligible students are able to get a Tuition Fee Loan from the government which helps to pay the course fee.<\/p>\n This is available to students studying an Undergraduate or Foundation Degree.<\/p>\n You can request a loan which covers the whole of the fee or just part of the fee.<\/p>\n You will need to apply for a Tuition Fee Loan each year of your course.<\/p>\n The Tuition Fee Loan is paid directly from the Student Loans Company to the University.<\/p>\n In order to qualify you must be studying at a minimum of 25% intensity e.g. a minimum of 30 credits per academic year.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tHow and when to apply<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t Some of our programmes offer specific funding options. Each of these subject specific funding opportunities are listed on our Subject Specific Funding page, so it’s definitely worth check to see what is available for your chosen course.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tView subject specific funding options\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n Funding from Student Finance England is usually paid in three instalments in September (a week after registering), January and April.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tWhen will I recieve my support package or bursary?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t The Support Package\/Chichester Bursary is paid in one instalment early in the second Semester.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tWhen do I pay for University accommodation?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t The licence period for most of the University Hall of Residences is 37 weeks and the payment schedule is in line with when funding from Student Finance England is scheduled to arrive.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tWhen do I pay for private rented accommodation?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t Private rented accommodation contracts are usually for 12 calendar months but it is often better to plan to use your student funding to help with the nine months of the academic year and use earnings from summer employment to pay for three months during the summer.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tHow do I budget my money?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t You will need to plan for the essential expenditure first (such as paying for accommodation and food) and then you can calculate how much you have left for non-essentials (such as going out!)<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\tWhat about repayments?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t You will need to start making repayments on the money you have borrowed once you have finished your course and you are earning above the threshold.
