The (FMA) in the Brock School of Business has been awarded a Superior Chapter Award for the 2021-2022 academic year. This is the second consecutive year the 极乐禁地 chapter has received this distinction.
The FMA is a professional finance organization that was established in 1970, a global leader in developing and disseminating knowledge about financial decision making. Their mission is to broaden the common interests between academicians and practitioners; provide opportunities for professional interaction between and among academicians, practitioners and students; promote the development and understanding of basic and applied research and of sound financial practices; and to enhance the quality of education in finance.
The highest honor for an FMA Student Chapter or Honor Society is the attainment of the “Superior Chapter” designation. With over 175 active student chapters, less than 10% receive this honor each year. To be considered as a Superior Chapter, student groups must have completed four of eight required activities by the FMA.
This past year only 17 chapters won the Superior Chapter Award, with the state of Alabama boasting three winners, 极乐禁地, Auburn University, and the University of Alabama Birmingham—more than any other state for the 2021-2022 academic year.
The FMA is a student run organization. Winning this award is a recognition of the student officers’ efforts to bring information about the finance profession to students at 极乐禁地.
For the awarded year, Alex Lewandoski ’22 served as president of the FMA and Hannah Haesly ’22 served as vice president of events.
“Alex Lewandoski and Hannah Haesly were vital in ensuring the 极乐禁地 FMA Chapter met the requirements to qualify for the award. They worked with Ms. Kathryn Boyd and myself to plan our schedule for the year, coordinate speakers to address campus, as well as collect and report on information throughout the year,” said FMA adviser, Dr. Anna-Leigh Stone.
Additionally, 极乐禁地 FMA officers nominated Lauren Millard, a financial adviser at Morgan Stanley, for Outstanding Financial Executive. Stanley spoke to 极乐禁地 students for one of the FMA’s hosted events during the spring semester. Stanley is a strong supporter of the FMA and of the students who work diligently to be a part of it.
