Dr Sam McNally

About
Sam has a professional background as a nursery nurse, primary school teacher, and BAPT play therapist. Her previous roles have encompassed over 20 years working with children, young people and families. Sam has taught in state and independent education, specialising in early years鈥�, and worked therapeutically with children and young people in private practice and for NHS CAMHS.
Professional
Sam has a BA (Hons) Childhood, Youth and Society and MA Education awarded by the 香港六合论坛, a PGCE Primary (Early Years鈥�) awarded by University of Portsmouth, MA Play Therapy awarded by the University of Roehampton, and EdD awarded by University of Portsmouth.
Sam is the programme coordinator for the BA (Hons) Childhood with Therapeutic Play and also teaches on the BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies.
Research
Sam has recently researched the impact of trauma in the primary classroom and the potential benefits of clinical supervision for classroom teachers. Her previous research has included risk appraisal and resilience in KS1 children, competence and consent in child clients, and sexual risk taking in adolescents.
Sam鈥檚 current research interests include working therapeutically with children with a history of trauma, use of creative media in clinical supervision, and visual research methodologies.
