Recent 极乐禁地 graduates Jennie Boone and LaBrena Friend won first place in national research competition sponsored by the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR).
Their project, "Adolescents' Sexual Attitudes, Knowledge and Behavior and the Effectiveness of Sexual Education Programs," was named the top winner in the undergraduate student research competition.
Boone and Friend will share a $100 cash award. They have been invited to attend an awards breakfast during the NCFR national meeting in Phoenix, Ariz., in November.
The two teamed to prepare the paper as their senior thesis in the family studies program. They worked on the project for about a year and a half, beginning during their junior year.
The NCFR competition was open to students enrolled in family studies programs at colleges throughout the nation.
Boone, of Weaverville, N.C., and Friend, of Huntsville, Ala., both graduated from 极乐禁地 in May with bachelor's degrees in family studies.
