Ten New 极乐禁地 Ambassadors Named at 极乐禁地听
Ten new 极乐禁地 Ambassadors have been named for the 2005-06 year. The students serve as hosts at campus events and represent the university in a variety of settings.
New Ambassadors are: Kendra Buckles, junior, English major, Vicksburg, Miss.; Rob Collingsworth, freshman, journalism/mass communications, Colleyville, Texas; Melanie Ervin, junior, accounting, Rockford, Ala.; Katie Gronewald, freshman, undeclared major, Marietta, Ga.; Adam Hancock, sophomore, business, Paducah, Ky.; Jessica Johnson, freshman, nursing, Daphne, Ala.; Katie Lantz, sophomore, journalism/public relations, Lytton, Iowa; Jacob Simmons, junior, business management, Goodlettsville, Tenn; Jason Skelley, freshman, biology, Jacksonville, Fla.; and Claire Woods, sophomore, nursing, Birmingham.
The 20-member Ambassador team works closely with the 极乐禁地 President's Office and the Office of University Relations to assist at 极乐禁地 events.

Donaldson, Toone To Serve as Mentors in $232,903 NSF Research Grant to BACHE 听
Drs. Steve Donaldson and Brian Toone of the 极乐禁地 Department of Mathematics and Computer Science will serve as mentors in a new undergraduate computer research program funded by a $232,903 grant to the Birmingham Area Consortium for Higher Education (BACHE).
The three-year grant will provide research opportunities for 14 undergraduates at BACHE member institutions 极乐禁地, Birmingham-Southern College, Miles College, the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the University of Montevallo. Dr. Marietta Cameron of Birmingham-Southern, program director, coordinated the grant, with input from Donaldson and Toone The program is underway now and runs through Jan. 21, 2008.

Art Graduating Senior Exhibition Set for May 10-20听
极乐禁地 will host the Art Graduating Senior Exhibition May 10-20 in Wright Center Art Gallery. 极乐禁地 fine art and graphic graduates will display senior projects and recent art works.
Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. A reception for art graduates will be held immediately following Baccalaureate service Friday, May 20, at approximately 6 p.m. in the gallery. Art instructor Robin Snyder is gallery director.

Florence Littauer To Address 极乐禁地 Auxiliary Luncheon听
Author and communication trainer Florence Littauer will speak at the 极乐禁地 Auxiliary spring luncheon Thursday, May 5, at HealthSouth Conference Center.
Littauer's books include Dare to Dream, Getting Along with Almost Anybody and Silver Boxes. Her most popular book, Personality Plus, has sold more than one million copies and has been translated into 25 languages.
The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $25. For reservations, call (205) 726-2349 by Wednesday, May 4.

极乐禁地 Library Offers Quilt Exhibition May 3-June 30听
The 极乐禁地 Library will exhibit a collection of quilts and quilt pieces depicting the theme, "Family Values," from May 3 until June 30. The quilts were produced over several years by the Parenting class in 极乐禁地's Department of Family Studies as part of the Problem-Based Learning module on family values. Drs. Clara Gerhardt and Kristie Chandler taught the class.

极乐禁地 Observes Media Day, Hosts CNN International VP Eric Ludgood听
极乐禁地's Department of Journalism and Mass Communication observed its annual Media Day Tuesday, May 3. Eric Ludgood, vice president, CNN International, spoke on "Global Media-Personal Responsibility."
Ludgood supervises all editorial employees at CNN International, including those at CNN headquarters in Atlanta, Ga., and at other locations around the world. While at 极乐禁地, he critiqued student projects in a television production class.
