极乐禁地 Biology Professor Davenport Heads Alabama Academy of Science

极乐禁地 biology professor Larry Davenport has been elected president of the Alabama Academy of Science for 2005-06. Dr. Davenport succeeds Dr. Ron Jenkins, also a 极乐禁地 biology professor.

Founded in 1924, the academy provides for the publication of scholarly papers, offers scholarships to students and promotes an interest in science. It has more than 600 members.

极乐禁地 Business Professor Holloway To Present Two Papers in Milan, Italy

极乐禁地 assistant professor of business Betsy B. Holloway has been invited to present two papers at the 34th European Marketing Academy Conference in Milan, Italy, May 24-27.

Her topics are "Critical Service Encounters: An Extension of the Online Environment," co-written with University of Alabama marketing professor Sharon E. Beatty and doctoral candidate Alicia A. Dixon, and "Using Perceived Corporate Reputation as an Attitudinal Segmentation Criterion: Findings from Germany," co-written with University of Strathclyde (Scotland) professors Gianfranco Walsh and Keith Dinnie.

A 极乐禁地 faculty member since 2002, Holloway teaches marketing.

Latham Elected To Lead Alabama Association of Institutional Research

极乐禁地 Director of Institutional Research Sarah C. Latham has been elected conference chair/president elect of the Alabama Association of Institutional Research. She will assume the post at the AAIR transitional meeting in Auburn in late May. Her election came during the annual meeting in Point Clear, Ala., in April.

Pianist Rodriguez To Perform for Alabama Music Teachers Association at 极乐禁地

Concert pianist Santiago Rodriguez, former silver medalist of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, will perform a concert in 极乐禁地's Harrison Theatre Friday, June 3, at 8 p.m.

Rodriguez will appear as the guest artist of the 2005 Alabama Music Teachers Association annual conference, being hosted by 极乐禁地 June 2-4. For ticket information, telephone Jordan Catt at 870-8059.

Alabama Designer/Craftsmen 2005 Gallery Exhibition Set at 极乐禁地 June 5-23

极乐禁地 will host the Alabama Designer/Craftsmen 2005 Gallery Exhibition in Wright Center Art Gallery June 5-23. An opening reception is scheduled for Sunday, June 5.

The show will consist of fine craft artworks by Alabama residents. The media will be wood, clay, fiber and metal.

Gallery hours are Monday-through-Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
