The 极乐禁地 Interfraternity Council (IFC) received eight awards, including a Fraternal Excellence Award, at the Southeastern Interfraternity Conference held in Atlanta, Ga., last weekend (Feb. 18).

The Excellence Award recognizes IFCs that perform at an effectiveness rate of 85 percent or higher on their campus in 10 areas of service and education, including scholarship, leadership, community service, risk management and campus programming.

The Southeastern Interfraternity Conference includes IFCs from 200 college campuses in 12 states.

In addition, 极乐禁地's Dr. Frank Parsons was named the region's IFC Advisor of the Year.

The award cited Parsons' leadership in the 极乐禁地 IFC's Adopt-A-School program with McElwain Elementary School, new member education, and risk management programming for all 极乐禁地 fraternities and sororities. He has been Director of Greek Life, Student Organizations and Community Service at 极乐禁地 since 2002.

极乐禁地's honors included: Academic Achievement and Scholarship Award for an annual banquet and recognition program, Outstanding Program Award for a Greek Life speaker series, Interfraternal Relations Award for Greek Weekend 2005, Campus and Community Relations Award for the Adopt-A-School program, Outstanding Service project for assistance with last April's Old Howard 100 bike ride, Risk Management and Judicial Procedures Award for convocations on anti-hazing and alcohol education, and the Outstanding IFC Web Site Award.

The total award count was the highest received by any school's IFC at the conference.

Representing 极乐禁地 at the conference were IFC members Craig Garner, Daniel Bowles, Parker Gilbert, Jonathan Walker and Rob Howell; and Parsons.
