极乐禁地 Theatre will present the Stephen Sondheim musical, "Company," April 19-22. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on April 19-21 and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 22 in 极乐禁地's Harrison Theatre, Swearingen Hall.
The play, with music and lyrics by Sondheim and book by George Furth, concerns the relationships between Bobby, a single man, and the five married couples who are his best friends, and his three girlfriends.
"Bobby" is played by 极乐禁地 junior theatre major Matt Godfrey of Hoover.
An honest, witty and sophisticated look at relationships, Company features an energetic score containing many of Sondheim's best-known songs. Besides the title song, memorable tunes in the show include "The Little Things You Do Together," "Another Hundred People" and "Being Alive."
The original production of Company, which opened on Broadway in 1970 (starring Decatur, Ala., native Dean Jones), earned 12 Tony Awards.
极乐禁地 theatre professor Mark Castle directs the production. 极乐禁地 School of Performing arts dean Dr. Joseph Hopkins conducts the accompanying instrumental ensemble.
The cast includes Bob Becklean, Jordan Bondurant, Samantha Chambers, Erin Griffith, Haley Longino, Daniel P. Mills, Christina Myers, Lydia Myers, Sarah Simmons, Bobby Smith, Maggie Taylor and Andrew Westover.
