Historian, author and modern Christianity specialist Philip Jenkins will speak at 极乐禁地 several times on March 11 and 12 during a visit sponsored by 极乐禁地's Beeson Divinity School.
On March 11, he will speak on "Reading the Bible in the Global South" at 11 a.m. and on "The Future of Christianity" at 1:30 p.m. Both lectures will be in Hodges Chapel.
Jenkins will lecture in two Beeson classes on March 12. His topics are "Is Christianity Dead in Europe" at 11 a.m. in Divinity N-101, and "The Lost History of Global Christianity at 12 noon in Divinity S-101.
He is distinguished professor of history and religious studies at Pennsylvania State University. His trilogy on understanding modern Christianity includes the award-winning The Next Christendom: The Coming of Global Christianity, The New Faces of Christianity: Believing the Bible in the Global South, and God's Continent: Christianity, Islam and Europe's Religious Crisis.听
