¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ

Fifteen ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ students have been named as 2009-10 Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. The students were selected in the fall and were honored at a recent dinner hosted by ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ President Andrew Westmoreland and his wife, Jeanna, at their home. 

The Who’s Who program annually honors outstanding campus leaders for their scholastic and community achievements, according to R. Phil Kimrey, ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ’s vice president for student affairs and enrollment management.  To be eligible for Who’s Who, students must have senior status and a cumulative grade-point-average of at least 3.2. They are nominated by faculty, staff and administrators and selected by a university-wide committee.      

This year’s honorees represent four students – Alabama, Tennessee, Florida and Missouri – and a wide cross-section of academic programs and community involvement. They include: 

Emily Aiken, senior exercise science and sports medicine major from Johnson City, Tenn. Aiken is a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and senior class president. She organized and led a mission trip to Trinidad and Tobago, where participants built a playground and led a baseball camp. 

J. Clifton Bell, a senior business major from Helena, Ala. Bell has been active in student government and several business professional and honor societies. He also is a vice president of Omicron Delta Kappa, national leadership honor society, and copresident of ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ's chapter of the American Marketing Association. 

Stephanie Campbell, a senior biology major from Merritt Island, Fla. Campbell is active in several professional and academic honor societies and serves as a ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ Ambassador and Student Recruitment Team member. She has traveled to Africa, Canada and Central America on mission trips. 

Jonathan Coley, a political science major from Germantown, Tenn. Coley is a member of several honor societies. He has been an organizer for OxFam and other social justice activities at ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ and writes for The ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ Crimson student newspaper. In 2008 he won a national essay contest sponsored by the U.S. Holocaust Memorial. 

Andrew Crosson, a Spanish major from Meridianville, Ala. Crosson also is a ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ Ambassador and Student Recruitment Team member and writes for The ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ Crimson. He is active in several academic and leadership honor societies and serves as a resident assistant. 

Beebe (Bee) Frederick, a communication studies major from Montgomery, Ala. Frederick is current student body president and has been active in student government for four years. He is a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and several academic and leadership honor organizations.  

Jonathan Haas, an interior design major from Webster Groves, Mo. Haas is a member of Sigma Chi fraternity and Omicron Delta Kappa. He also is a residence life assistant and has been involved in several community service projects.  

Hannah Brooke Joiner, an international relations major from Lexington, Ala.  She is a Beeson Exceptional Scholar and helped to reactive and reorganize the ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ Spanish Club, for which she currently serves as president. Joiner also is a member of several academic and honor societies. 

Katie Knuth, a management major from Windermere, Fla. Knuth is president of Alpha Kappa Psi professional business fraternity and Chi Omega sorority. During her senior year, she has been marketing/communication coordinator for ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ’s Frances Marlin Mann Center for Ethics and Leadership. 

Amanda McPhail, a mathematics major from DeLeon Springs, Fla. McPhail is active as a tutor for several organizations and also is a residence life assistant.  She is a member of several academic and leadership honor societies and is a presidential scholar. 

Stephen Moss, a journalism/mass communication major from Panama City Beach, Fla. Moss writes for The ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ Crimson and has been active with Reformed University Fellowship. He also has been active in student government and served as sophomore class president. Moss is a presidential scholar. 

Alexandra Sconfienza, an international relations major from Silverhill, Ala. She is a member of Phi Mu sorority and several academic and leadership honor societies. Schonfienza is International Club president and founded the ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ affiliate of Project Africa Now.  She also has been involved with ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ’s Model United Nations program. 

Vishal Shah, an international relations major from Dothan, Ala. Shah is president of the Pre-Law Society and active in several other academic and honor organizations. He helped to organize funding for ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ Mock Trial program and is a member of ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ’s Model U.N. team. 

Katie Snider, a nutrition and dietetics major from Athens, Ala. Snider was one of the ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ students caught by the January earthquakes in Haiti, where she was participating in a mission trip. She also is a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and several other academic and leadership honor societies. 

Ashlyn Stallings, a journalism/mass communication major from Montgomery, Ala. Stallings helped to organize the recent centennial celebration for Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She has been a writer and editor for The ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ Crimson and is a member of several academic and leadership honor societies, including Omicron Delta Kappa.
