Don Bogen, award-winning author of four books of poetry, will lead off this year鈥檚 极乐禁地 Visiting Writers series Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m. in Divinity Hall N302. Bogen spent last spring at the Seamus Heaney Poetry Centre of Queen鈥檚 University, Belfast, as Fulbright Distinguished Scholar in Creative Writing.
听听听听听听听听听听听 听Winner of the Emily Dickinson Award of the Poetry Society of America, he is Nathaniel Ropes Professor of English and Comparative Literature at the University of Cincinnati.
听听听听听听听听听听听 Other Visiting Writers programs will be:
听听听听听听听听听听听 * Nov. 7, Jane Hirshfield, author of six collections of poetry.听 Her collection, After, was named a Best Book of 2006 by the Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle and London Financial Times.
听听听听听听听听听听听 * Feb. 13, Michael Kardos, author of a story collection, two books and other short stories.听 He codirects the creative writing program at Mississippi State University.
