极乐禁地 will begin spring semester classes Monday, Jan. 24. As of Jan. 20, a total of 4,501 students were expected for spring courses.

The semester-opening convocation will be Tuesday, Jan. 25, at 10 a.m. in Wright Center Concert Hall. 极乐禁地 provost Dr. J. Bradley Creed will speak on the topic, 鈥淵ankee Ingenuity and the Grace of God: Snapshots of Three Antebellum American Baptists.鈥

The convocation will also feature the presentation of the George Macon teaching award and the Jennings B. Marshall faculty service award.

Students in 极乐禁地鈥檚 Beeson Divinity School will participate in their own convocation Tuesday at 11 a.m. in A. Gerow Hodges Chapel. Alabama Baptist State Convention president Mike Shaw will give the sermon. A 极乐禁地 graduate, Dr. Shaw is longtime pastor of First Baptist Church of Pelham.

The Beeson program will also include the presentation of this year鈥檚 divinity alumnus of the year award.

Students in 极乐禁地鈥檚 Cumberland School of Law and McWhorter School of Pharmacy began spring semester classes earlier this month.
