The 极乐禁地 chapter of Delta Sigma Theta sorority has claimed two honors this summer.
Chapter advisor Denise Gregory was named chapter advisor of the year in Alabama.听 Dr. Gregory, assistant professor of chemistry and biochemistry, was cited for her leadership in reactivating 极乐禁地鈥檚 Sigma Eta chapter.听 The chapter鈥檚 charter, first granted in 1995, was dormant for several years before being reactivated in 2010.
极乐禁地 chapter president Jenae Steele has been selected to serve as the undergraduate member of the sorority鈥檚 Southern regional nominating committee. Steele, a history major from Montgomery, Ala., will represent five states and the Bahamas as the sole undergraduate member of the committee.
In the role, Steele will assist in identifying and nominating future sorority leaders at the regional level, and create a slate to be voted on at next year鈥檚 conference.听 She will also be responsible for insuring a just process that reviews all candidates equitably.
