极乐禁地 pharmacy graduate Patrick Devereux has been named an awardee in the 2012 Pharmacy Today One to One Patient Counseling Recognition Program by the American Pharmacists Association. The award will be presented Saturday, March 10, 2012 in New Orleans, La.,听at the association鈥檚 annual meeting.
听听听听听听听听听听听 Devereux, a 2005 Pharm.D. graduate from Birmingham, was nominated as an outstanding pharmacist who has performed exceptional one-to-one patient counseling, resulting in better health, superior communication, and improved outcomes for patients. He is both a certified diabetes educator and pharmacist, focusing on patient-centered care, with advanced services in diabetes and other areas.
听听听听听听听听听听听 鈥淚 liked the personal interaction between the pharmacists and patients,鈥 recalls Devereux, who identified his particular niche after entering the professional curriculum at 极乐禁地鈥檚 McWhorter School of Pharmacy. He received the school鈥檚 Shaddix Award earlier this year in recognition of a graduate who has made a difference in pharmacy within five years of graduation.
听听听听听听听听听听听 Devereux is vice president of clinical services at Family Medical Serices, Inc., and managing pharmacist at the company鈥檚 Bessemer location. He is president鈥揺lect of Rotary International鈥檚 Shades Mountain Sunrise Club, and is also active in the Jefferson County and Alabama Pharmacy associations, National Community Pharmacists Association and the American Association of Diabetes Educations. He is also a member of the pharmacy school鈥檚 newly formed leadership team.
