According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the majority of the United States is experiencing widespread influenza, including Alabama. While this is not meant to cause panic, it is designed to keep us informed and motivate us to take prevention seriously.

In this video, Kim Davey, assistant professor in 极乐禁地’s School of Public Health, shares helpful tips on how you can stop the spread of the flu.

Get Vaccinated

The single best way to prevent the flu is to get a flu vaccine each season, and if you are asking yourself if it is too late to get you flu vaccine,

Wash Your Hands Frequently

An easy way to prevent the spread of germs is to wash your hands with soap and warm water as often as possible. For when you don’t have access to soap or water, keep some alcohol-based hand sanitizer in your pocket, backpack or desk.

Clean and Disinfect Surfaces or Objects

Cleaning and disinfecting common surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with germs can help slow the spread of the flu. Be sure your disinfectant is design to kill the flu virus.

Avoid Touching Your Eyes, Nose or Mouth

Germs are often spread when a person touches a surface or object that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose or mouth.

Eat a Healthy Diet and Drink Lots of Water

While there is no vitamin or mineral that can prevent you from getting sick, a healthy diet full of fruits, vegetables and plenty of water will help give your body a fighting chance. .
